A Story of Niagara

VQA EXCELLENCE

Strewn wines are made from Niagara grapes sourced from the winery’s Home Farm and growers, most of whom are also based in the Niagara-on-the-Lake sub appellation. All the grapes in Strewn wines qualify for the VQA (Vintners Quality Alliance) program. VQA wines are submitted for audits that verify composition, grape origin, and packaging so that vintage, varietal, and geographic claims on the bottle are legally verified.

Strewn’s Home Farm vineyards, like the winery, are also certified by the Sustainable Wineries Ontario program, reflecting evaluates and certifies the complete “grape-to-glass” cycle of Ontario’s VQA wines, verifying that both the vineyards where the grapes are grown and the facilities where the wine is crafted meet strict, third-party audited standards across three core pillars:

Community: social responsibility, safe and positive workplace relations, and diversity within the industry.
Environment: water conservation and management, wastewater and waste reduction, and energy efficiency programs.
Economy: 100% Ontario-grown VQA grapes, supporting local economic viability and reducing our transportation carbon footprint.

Situated on the same property as the Strewn production facilities and visitor centre, the Lakeshore vineyards are less than a half kilometre from the moderating influence of Lake Ontario. The vineyards grow the varietals Gewurztraminer, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Blanc, used in Strewn’s aromatic white wines..

LINE ONE, NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE

A mere eight-minute drive away, the Line One vineyards are home to Chardonnay, Riesling and most of Strewn’s Pinot Blanc. The reds grown here include Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc – the classic vinifera grapes, along with the hybrid Vidal used for Icewine and Icebreaker.
